“I’m so glad I discovered Scanlon hair and my wonderful hairdresser Guru. I have boofy, unruly and quite coarse hair, so it was great to have someone who really understood my hair type and could give me honest advice and recommendations. He suggested nanoplasty, which has turned out amazingly — my hair is so much more manageable and looks great. He also gave me a lovely restyle that I’m really happy with. Everyone at the salon is lovely, friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. I’m really happy with the results and would definitely recommend them!”

What it is
What is nanoplasty?
Nanoplasty smooths and straightens hair using a blend of organic acids, amino acids, oils and hydrolysed vegetable proteins. Floractive's particles are far smaller than those in a traditional keratin treatment, so they work inside the hair fibre without the cuticle being forced open. The result is smoother, softer, shinier hair that is easier to style. Floractive's formula is formaldehyde-free and vegan.
Who it suits
Hair that won't sit right.
Nanoplasty suits hair that is frizzy, coarse, puffy or unruly, and curls you would like to relax or tame. It can be used on coloured, bleached and grey hair. Your Stylist will tell you at your consultation whether it is right for your hair, and what result to expect.
The difference
Nanoplasty or keratin?
If you have been searching for a keratin treatment, nanoplasty does the same job in a different way. Floractive's formula contains no formaldehyde, so there are no strong fumes in the salon. It is a one-step treatment, with no special shampoo needed afterwards, and you can still colour, swim and heat style your hair. The questions below cover the timing.
Before you book
What to expect.
Your consultation.
Before your first nanoplasty, we ask you to come into the salon for a free consultation at least a couple of days before your appointment. Nanoplasty is a real investment of your time and money, so your Stylist will look at your hair, talk you through the result to expect, and confirm the time and price of your treatment.
Your appointment.
Nanoplasty is two steps, booked together in one booking: Step One is the application and processing, and Step Two finishes and seals the treatment. Allow about 4 hours in all. Each step can be with a different Stylist, which makes a time easier to find. If you'd prefer one Stylist, choose them for both steps.
Your price.
$400 for both steps. Very long or thick hair may cost more, and your price is confirmed at your consultation.

How long does it last?
We started offering nanoplasty in August 2026, and clients we treated then still have very obvious results. How long it lasts depends on your hair and how you care for it. We will keep this page updated as we see more.

A client review
Nanoplasty questions.
Yes, before your first nanoplasty, as before any first colour, lightening or smoothing service with us. For nanoplasty it needs to be in the salon, at least a couple of days before your appointment, so your Stylist can assess your hair. Consultations are free and can be booked online or by calling (02) 9743 1779.
Our online booking takes nanoplasty in two parts: Step One, the application and processing, then Step Two, the finish. Add both to one booking, with Step Two straight after Step One on the same day. Each step can be with a different Stylist, which makes a time easier to find. If you'd prefer one Stylist, choose them for both steps.
About 4 hours for both steps.
$400 for both steps. Very long or thick hair may cost more, and your price is confirmed at your consultation.
Yes. Your Stylist can often colour on the same day, after checking your hair. For bleach or lightening, leave at least two weeks before or after your nanoplasty.
No. You don't need a sulfate-free shampoo after nanoplasty. Good home care helps your result last, and your Stylist will recommend what suits your hair.
Yes. Keep the heat moderate and always use a heat protectant.
Yes. Use a good leave-in product before swimming to protect your hair from chlorine and salt water.
No. Floractive makes formulas for blonde and grey hair that help prevent brassy tones, and your Stylist will choose the right one for your hair.
Clients we treated in August 2026 still have very obvious results. It depends on your hair and how you care for it.
