Scanlon Hair is a family-owned hair salon at 201 Concord Road, North Strathfield NSW 2137. This page explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and what we do with it. If you have a question, email salon@scanlonhair.com.au or call (02) 9743 1779.

What we collect, and why

Hair model applications

If you register on our hair models page, we collect:

• your name, email, phone number, suburb and date of birth, and your Instagram handle if you give one;
• details about your hair (length, texture, natural colour and recent treatments), the services you are open to, and when you are available;
• anything you choose to tell us about allergies or sensitivities, your modelling experience, and how you heard about us;
• up to three photos of your hair;
• if you are under 18 (the minimum age is 16), the name, email and phone number of a parent or guardian, and their consent;
• the IP address your application was sent from.

We use this to decide whether to invite you to a training or featured session, and to contact you about it.

Emails and phone calls

This website has no enquiry form. If you email or call us, for example about a job on our careers page, we receive whatever you choose to tell us, and we use it to reply.

Bookings

Online bookings are made through Timely, our booking provider. Its booking pages appear inside our site, and your browser connects to Timely when you open them. Timely collects and holds your booking details under its own privacy policy. This website does not receive or store them.

How the site is used

On the live site we use Google Analytics to see which pages are visited, from what kind of device and roughly where. It uses cookies, and Google receives your IP address. We use the reports to improve the site, not to identify individual visitors. See Google's privacy policy.

Google Maps, fonts and reviews

• The map on our home page is provided by Google and may set Google's own cookies.
• Our fonts are loaded from Google's servers on every page, so your browser sends your IP address to Google.
• The Google reviews shown on our site are public reviews from our Google Business Profile. Our server fetches them from Google once a day; nothing about visitors is sent.

Cookies this site sets

Every page sets two cookies of our own, a session cookie and a security (CSRF) cookie. They keep forms working and protect them from misuse, they contain no personal information, and they expire after about two hours. We do not use them for tracking.

Server logs

Our web server keeps standard logs of each request (your IP address, the page asked for, your browser and the time). The site also keeps technical error logs, which are deleted after 14 days.

Links to other sites

Our Facebook, Instagram and TikTok links take you to those sites, which have their own privacy policies.

Where it is kept and who sees it

What you send through this website is stored on web servers in Australia, and in the email mailboxes of the people who receive it. Hair model applications are emailed to the owners and the salon manager, who are also the people who can open applications and photos, in a password-protected area of this website. Photos are kept in a private folder on the server, not on a public web address.

Photos you choose on the form are first held in a temporary private folder. If you start the form and do not finish it, those photos can stay there until the folder is next cleared out.

We do not sell or rent your information. We share it only with the services named on this page that run parts of our site: Google, Timely, and the providers of our web hosting and email.

How long we keep it

• Hair model applications and photos are kept until we delete them by hand. Nothing deletes them automatically. We delete them if you ask.
• Deleting an application removes it and its photos from the website straight away. Nightly backups of the website and its photos are kept for 14 nights, and our hosting provider keeps a small number of server snapshots, so a copy can remain in a backup for up to about two weeks.
• Emails stay in our mailboxes until we delete them.
• Information held by Google and Timely is kept under their own policies.

Your choices

• To see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, email salon@scanlonhair.com.au.
• You can block analytics cookies in your browser settings, or with Google's opt-out browser add-on.

Changes

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page.
